Strange mystery at Comex on 7/28?

For the last several hours the gold market covered at https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/gold has been open and trading.

Likewise, exactly the same, open and trading, December Comex gold, according to https://finance.yahoo.com/chart/GC%3DF

But for several hour the latter has been trading in a wide band near what would be dollars from an all time high.

So is there not enough money at Comex to put buy orders close to what buyers are paying? Or is there not gold available there to sell at the low end of the spread?

edit / Looking further, it looks like that is associated with expiring contracts, but it still is interesting that the top end of the spread is so close to an all time high.

Once unemployment jumps https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/UNRATE and commodities surge the U.S. Fed will be in a squeeze and forced to look to a second line of defense.
